In 2009, Dr. Nayan Mukherjee-a cardiac surgeon by profession and a myth-buster by passion-encountered something at the Tower of London that defied his scientific logic. It looked, for all intents and purposes, like a ghost. The experience shook him to his core. Shortly after his return to Kolkata, the All Bengal Rationalists' Forum, at the request of the Indian Railway Minister, handed him a daunting new assignment: to unravel the infamous "ghost" mystery of Begunkodar.

The Legend of the Cursed Station

Begunkodar, a small railway station in Purulia near the West Bengal-Bihar border, had remained shuttered for over 40 years. The abandonment began when the then-station master claimed to have seen the ghost of his daughter, who had tragically died in a rail accident. Within days, the station master himself passed away under mysterious circumstances. Tales of spectral sightings and eerie sounds spread like wildfire, prompting Eastern Railways to abandon the station entirely.

For decades, the closure strangled the local Santhal villages, cutting off their connectivity and economic lifelines. Now, as the government considers reopening the tracks, Dr. Nayan and his team arrive at Begunkodor to separate fact from folklore.

The Clash of Truth and Interest

The investigation quickly reveals a web far more complex than a simple haunting. The mystery is layered with conflicting motives:

The Believers: Locals who live in genuine fear of the supernatural.

The Opportunists: Those who profit from "ghost tourism," fearing that debunking the myth will destroy the local economy.

The Shadows: Proximity to the "Red Corridor" suggests that Maoist insurgents might prefer the station to remain closed and desolate for their own tactical advantage.

Caught between truth, terror, and hidden agendas, Nayan must discover if Begunkodar is truly haunted or if the "ghosts" are merely a mask for a more intricate human conspiracy.

Director's Note: The Vision Behind the Film

"Some stories never truly fade; they live quietly in forgotten corners, shaping how generations perceive the world. Begunkodor is one such story.

In creating Poroborti Station Begunkodar, our focus wasn't just the supernatural mystery, but the human cost behind it. For forty years, a community was isolated, opportunities were lost, and a region was effectively erased from the railway map due to a legend.

Through Dr. Nayan Mukherjee-a rationalist surgeon-we explore a reality where faith, fear, livelihood, and invisible interests collide. This film is an exploration of the thin line between belief and reality, and how stories can ultimately dictate the fate of a place and its people.

Ultimately, this is not just a story about a haunted station; it is a search for the truth that often hides behind the tales we tell."
