Rising from very humble backgrounds, these people, later under societal exploitation and financial challenges, turned out to be the most notorious personalities for the people and police. This gritty crime saga will blend true accounts with fictional retelling, chronicling the rise, reign, and downfall of some of Bengal’s most feared criminals, revealing power, psychology, and shadows they have left behind. These 5 stories of Ganoshotru will feature Paoli Dam as Troilokya Devi, Rudranil Ghosh as Hubba Shyamal, Ayush Das as Sajal Barui, Debopriyo Mukherjee as The Chain Man and Subrat Dutta as Rashid Khan.

“At Bangla ZEE5, we are committed to curating stories that are rooted in culture yet daring in treatment. Ganoshotru is one of our most ambitious Bengali originals, a show that blends truth and fiction to retell Bengal’s crime history in a way that is raw, authentic and cinematic. With a power-packed cast and a robust directorial team, we are confident that Ganoshotru will spark conversations when it premieres on the platform”, said Ms Rusa Banerjee, Business Head, Bangla ZEE5.

Ganoshotru unveils chilling portraits of India’s most terrifying criminals — a parricidal teen, necrophiliac killer, con-woman turned murderer, and bomb-blast mastermind. Among them, Troilokya Devi, India’s first female serial killer, turned from a Brahmin widow into a ruthless extortionist and killer. Hubba Shyamal, the politically backed gangster, ruled Bengal’s underworld. The series also features The Chainman, who strangled women, young fugitive Sajal Barui, and Rashid Khan, the man behind the deadly 1993 Bowbazar blast that shattered Kolkata.

“Troilokya Devi, though a woman mafia, embodies a sinister determination. Portraying her was both powerful and challenging, with every element crafted to preserve the authenticity of her era.,” said actress, Ms Paoli Dam.

“Hubba Shyamal is a flamboyant gangster who escaped justice despite his crimes - portraying him was both intriguing and intense. Through Ganoshotru, I aimed to bring authenticity and depth, as every episode is intricately woven to feel gripping and real.” said actor, Mr Rudranil Ghosh.

“Sajal Barui was young yet dangerously intelligent, his methods instilling fear in many.

Under Samik Roy Chowdhury’s guidance, I delved deep into his psyche to portray his rise in the world of crime with authenticity.” said actor, Mr Ayush Das.

“The character of Chainman exposes how hidden human desires can evolve into conflict and violence. Playing this cold-blooded murderer was a challenging privilege, and I believe audiences will be gripped by Ganoshotru’s intense narrative.” said actor, Mr Debopriya Mukherjee.

“Rashid Khan, the “satta king” orchestrated terror with a blast in Kolkata, revealing a hidden brutality. Throughout the series, we focused on portraying the facts and characters with utmost authenticity, Mr Subrata Dutta.

In Ganoshotru, Abhirup Ghosh has directed the track on The Chainman. The series marks the directorial debut of Madhura Palit, the Cinematographer who has also done the direction for track on Troilkya Devi, Sayan Dasgupta who has directed the track on Rashid Khan, Samik Roy Chowdhury for the direction of the track on Sajal Barui and Srimanta Senguptta, who directed the track on Hubba Shyamal.
