B. Sirkar Johuree marked yet another landmark moment in its illustrious journey with the grand launch of its Annual Calendar 2026 on the evening of
January 6, commencing at 7:00 p.m. The event unfolded as a star-studded celebration that seamlessly blended fashion, heritage, and fine jewellery,
reaffirming the brand’s stature as one of Bengal’s oldest and most revered jewellery houses, established in 1884.
Often likened to legendary masters such as Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci for its brilliance and artistry, B. Sirkar Johuree has long been
synonymous with exceptional craftsmanship and uncompromising quality. Its iconic showrooms at Bowbazar and Elgin Road had, over the decades,
continued to draw patrons in large numbers, built on a legacy where quality remained the brand’s defining watchword.
The calendar launch featured an exclusive fashion show with Kolkata’s leading models, presented in two thoughtfully curated segments.
The first segment showcased the brand’s new lightweight, modern designer jewellery collection, reflecting a contemporary design language paired with
refined elegance crafted for effortless sophistication and everyday luxury.
The second segment unveiled the heritage jewellery collection for 2026, featuring richer, heavier designs that paid homage to traditional craftsmanship
while embodying timeless grandeur. Both segments introduced entirely new designs, revealed for the first time at the event.
Adding to the evening’s glamour, the brand face and showstopper, Nusrat Jahan, captivated the audience with her presence, lending star power and
grace to the showcase. The event was graced by the owners, Sree Sirkar and Joydeep Sirkar, who welcomed guests and reflected on the brand’s journey
and future vision.
B. Sirkar Johuree’s history stood as a testament to resilience and innovation. During the challenging period of the Gold Control Act in the early 1960s, the
brand emerged as the first jewellery house to restart operations, pioneering the use of 14-carat gold ornaments. It was also among the earliest brands to
introduce the concept of hallmarking, encouraging customers to return with confidence for guaranteed purity, an initiative that helped set industry
standards.
The brand’s global recognition grew steadily. In 1977, B. Sirkar Johuree was honoured as one of only 12 jewellers chosen to represent India at the Kuwait
Festival, marking the beginning of India’s gold jewellery exports. This milestone was followed by regular participation in international exhibitions across
New York, Japan, Dubai, Malaysia, and Munich, and significant acclaim after showcasing at the Sonar Sansaar jewellery exhibition in Kolkata. International
recognition further rose when members of royal households acquired the brand’s celebrated Ratan Choor.
The brand’s prominence was further strengthened through membership in the GJEPC and participation in the IIJS Signature Show, as well as a prestigious
collaboration with renowned designer Sharbari Dutta, culminating in a fashion showcase at Taj Bengal.
Numerous accolades followed, including the Nirayat Shiromani Puraskar awarded by the Indian Council of Small and Medium Exporters in 2006, and the
Gem of India Award received by Bireshwar Sirkar in 2004. The brand also enjoyed a unique distinction when legendary figures such as Bejan Daruwala,
Sanjay Jhumani, and Neeraj Machandha associated with it from 2008 onwards.
Beyond jewellery, the brand’s legacy was enriched by Bireshwar Sirkar’s remarkable contribution to Bengali music, composing iconic songs such as
“Brishti Brishti Brishti” and “Ke Jaane Ko Ghonta.
” His musical legacy was posthumously honoured when Lata Mangeshkar released an album featuring his
unreleased compositions an emotional milestone in the brand’s cultural journey.
Under the visionary leadership of Sree Sirkar, daughter of the founder, the brand reached new heights. Taking charge after Bireshwar Sirkar’s passing,
she steered the business with remarkable acumen, expanding through franchising in 2009 across Midnapur, Durgapur, Malda, Tamluk, Siuri, Bagnan,
Coochbehar, and Katwa. A respected authority in jewellery design, she became a regular presence at national jewellery shows and served as a guest
lecturer and examiner at NIFT, shaping the next generation of designers.
With a distinguished corporate clientele including Airtel, Hindustan Lever, Balmer Lawrie, and Indian Oil, and a legacy spanning over a century, the Annual
Calendar Launch 2026 stood not merely as an event, but as a celebration of enduring excellence, where heritage met innovation, and tradition found
expression through contemporary elegance.
