Kolkata: In a powerful and candid response to recent controversies, superstar Dev has come forward to address rumors regarding his alleged rift with industry seniors Prosenjit Chatterjee (Bumbada) and Jeet. Expressing deep disappointment over how internal industry discussions were leaked and distorted, the actor-politician clarified his stance on cinema release dates and professional respect.

A Bond Beyond Business

Dev began by firmly dismissing any claims of a fallout with Prosenjit Chatterjee. Emphasizing their deep-rooted personal connection, he stated, "I am saying this again: in this lifetime, nothing bad will ever happen between Bumbada and me." He noted that his family and Prosenjit's close circle are well aware of the mutual respect they share. Dev highlighted that his presence at the event was to celebrate Prosenjit's Padma Shri honor and the success of the film Kakababu.

Clarifying the "Release Date" Controversy

The crux of the controversy stemmed from a meeting regarding film release schedules. Dev explained that his comments were taken out of context to paint him in a negative light.

According to Dev, when Prosenjit Chatterjee mentioned he wanted a slot for a small-scale film during Durga Puja, Dev's response was one of advocacy, not opposition. He argued that legends like Prosenjit (with 40 years of contribution) and Jeet (with over 25 years) should not have to "ask" or wait in line for dates.

"If people of Bumbada's stature have to stand in line for a date, it is a matter of disrespect. I believe icons like him or Jeet should have the right to choose their release dates, and ultimately, the audience and hall owners will decide the film's fate," Dev clarified.

Rumors of a Rift with Jeet

Dev also addressed the "manufactured" news of a conflict with superstar Jeet. He revealed that he had spent the previous evening at Jeet's residence, chatting and having dinner until midnight. He reiterated that he fully supports Jeet's films and contributions to the industry, just as he does for Prosenjit.

"My Fight Just Got Tougher"

The actor did not mince words when discussing the deliberate targeting he feels he is facing. He expressed pain over how his words were "broken and distorted" by certain individuals within the industry or media.

Targeted Attacks: Dev believes he is being intentionally targeted to create friction.

Silence of Peers: He expressed sadness that many who were present during the actual discussion remained silent while the misinformation spread.

The Goal: He reminded everyone that his primary goal remains the growth and betterment of Bengali cinema.

Conclusion

Ending on a resilient note, Dev sent his "best wishes" to those trying to malign his image, suggesting that their attempts would only make his resolve stronger. For now, the actor remains focused on celebrating the success of his peers and pushing the industry forward, despite the internal politics.
