Siddhi Vinayak Creations presents a spine-chilling psychological thriller that blurs the lines between haunting folklore and the fractured reality of trauma. Directed by Soumava Banerjee and produced by D.K. Bharti, AUTOBI is set to take audiences on a journey where the most dangerous monsters aren't hiding in the shadows of the trees, but within the corridors of the mind.
The Plot: A Sister's Desperate Quest
The story is rooted in a horrific childhood accident that left sisters Dimple (Madhumita Sarcar) and Taniya (Inaaya Chowdhury) orphaned. This shared trauma forged an inseparable, albeit suffocating, bond. Dimple's life has since revolved around a single mantra: "My sister, my responsibility."
The nightmare begins when Dimple receives a call from the Jhargram Police Station--Taniya, a school teacher, has gone missing. Investigations lead to a terrifying discovery: Taniya was last seen entering the "Chamsutti" forest, a forbidden "No Entry" zone notorious among locals as a site for suicides. Legend says the forest is Mayabi (enchanted); it preys on the mentally fragile, inducing hallucinations that lure them toward death.
Refusing to believe her sister is dead, Dimple arrives in Jhargram. She crosses paths with Shakib (Shaheb Chatterjee), a Bangladeshi reporter investigating the forest's mysteries. Despite warnings from the authorities, Dimple, Shakib, and a reluctant guide named Shamik (Rahul Arunoday Banerjee) venture into the heart of the forbidden woods.
The Descent: Reality vs. Delusion
As the canopy thickens, the atmosphere turns claustrophobic. Shamik warns them that technology and compasses fail here, and they must leave before sunset. However, as darkness falls, Dimple realizes she has run out of the medication she relies on for mental stability.
Without her pills, the boundary between the forest's whispers and her own past traumas begins to dissolve. Paranoia takes hold; she begins to suspect Shakib of involvement in Taniya's disappearance. In the isolation of the wild, Dimple must confront not only the supernatural aura of the woods but also the suppressed demons of her childhood.
Director's Vision: Soumava Banerjee
"AUTOBI is not just a search for a missing person; it is a descent into the labyrinth of the human soul, where love can become suffocating and protection can turn into a prison.
The 'Chamsutti' forest is the silent antagonist of this film--a metaphor for Dimple's fracturing psyche. I wanted to erase the line between external horror and internal paranoia. Through this narrative, we explore 'gaslighting' and the tragedy of mental illness. I want the audience to walk away asking: are the ghosts we fear in the woods, or do they live within the people we trust the most?"
Producer's Note: D.K. Bharti (Siddhi Vinayak Creations)
"From a production standpoint, the strength of AUTOBI lies in its atmosphere. It's a unique blend of high-intensity psychological drama and environmental horror. We chose this script because it transforms a beautiful natural landscape into a terrifying adversary. It's an 'unreliable narrator' story that will keep the audience guessing until the very last frame. We are thrilled to bring this haunting experience to the big screen."
