Actress Koel Mallick recently shared her feelings with the media about a special moment during the recently concluded Durga Puja's Bijoya Dashami. While she appeared jubilant during the Sindoor Khela (vermilion smearing ritual), she also expressed her sadness over the Goddess's farewell.
Koel Mallick's Feelings on Bijoya Dashami
After the Sindoor Khela on Dashami, actress Koel Mallick shared that, like everyone else, she was also feeling down. She consoled herself by saying, "Next year, it will happen again." However, the belief that the Goddess remains with them all year round, even after the festive season ends, brings her joy. She said, "Mother is always with us throughout the entire year. She is always in our hearts and minds. Because the Mother cannot leave, a household is incomplete without the Mother."
When asked how their Puja went, Koel said that, as always, their Puja was fantastic this year. She mentioned that whenever they come to this house, everyone seems to become like children-her father becomes like a child, she becomes like a child, and everyone the age of her son, Kabir, seems to return to their childhood.
Regarding her Daughter, Koel said, "Kavya enjoyed it the most. Because he was being carried around by everyone the whole time, and was surrounded by the sounds of the conch, drums, and gongs." She also felt that after the past three days, the current day might feel a bit empty to Kavya as well. She jokingly said that starting next year, Kavya might start speaking in small sentences.
The Reason for Post-Puja Sadness
As the reason for her sadness after the festival, Koel mentioned that everyone will return to their work, to their own lives, and might not be constantly in touch anymore. She said, "We usually meet a little, talk on the phone a little throughout the year, but continuously seeing each other morning, evening, and night for these three or four days-that won't happen, and that is why I feel very sad."
Non-Vegetarian Feast and Hint at a New Film
The actress shared that today, after the immersion ceremony, they would have their first non-vegetarian meal and would also have a non-vegetarian dinner.
When a journalist asked about her new film, Koel laughed and said that she would not talk about films right now, because talking about films makes her become 'serious' again. She only wants to remain in the joy of the Puja for now. She jokingly added that there are also many other things with her father... after which she said, "We will talk about films later, not now. Let's keep it for another time."
When asked about matching the colours of their outfits every day during the Puja, she mentioned that the colour coordination will continue in the following year as well. She also said that Kabir has a whole thing about colours-which colour he will wear-because he loves to draw. She encourages him because he has that creativity.
Finally, without dwelling on the personal sadness, she conveyed her Bijoya Dashami wishes in front of the camera. The actress offered one prayer: "May everyone stay healthy, beautiful, and well."
She elaborated, "May everyone be healthy, beautiful, and well, because I feel that while checking off your own checklist... I used to do it as a child, 'Mother, please help me with my studies,' 'Mother, please do this for me,' 'Mother, please do that for me'-I used to do it. Now... the thing is, God is a very serious God. And I always tell him that I pray in such a way that it becomes a collective prayer for everyone, so that everyone stays healthy, stays beautiful, stays happy, and also keeps everyone else happy. I always wish for that. Because I don't feel like you can be happy just by yourself, unless the people close to you can also be well."
This message from Koel Mallick echoes a collective desire for joy and a wish for the well-being of loved ones, even after the festival concludes.
