The much-hyped motion picture of S. S. Rajamouli, the director of the Telugu blockbuster, Mahesh Babu, whose working title was GlobeTrotter, is now officially known as Varanasi in an elaborate programme.

Event Size: It is one of the biggest fan meet events in the Indian entertainment sector where more than 50,000 fans attended. The stage was gigantic--100 feet in height and 130 feet in breadth.

Title Unveiling: The highlight of the show was the unveiling of the name of the film, Varanasi, which was named after a religious town of Varanasi or Kashi in India.
Introduction of Teaser and Character: There was a spectacular title teaser that was released and left people with a lot of excitement.
Mahesh Babu: The character of Mahesh Babu is called Rudhra. His teaser features him aggressively riding a giant bull holding a trident in his hand and in the background of Varanasi temples. Mahesh Babu himself caused a craze when he came to the stage riding on a mechanical white bull.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas: She is going to play a character known as Mandakini. It is her first association with Indian cinema in a long time.
Prithviraj Sukumaran: He will be the villain and he will perform the role of Kumbha.
Peek of the Plot: Rajamouli disclosed that the movie is a time-travelling adventure across time and boundary between the past and the present. The novel is based on a powerful event of Hindu mythology particularly the Ramayana.
Technological Progress: Rajamouli told that Varanasi will bring a new dimension to Indian cinema with the help of the latest technology: Premium Large Scale Format Filmed to IMAX. It will be shot at 1.43:1 aspect ratio.
