The much-anticipated family drama Sharthopor directed by the debutant director, Annapurna Basu features Ranjit Mallick, Koel Mallick, Kaushik Sen, Anirban Chakraborty and Indrajit Chakraborty in some of the key roles. The movie touches on the thin film of love, justice and family ties. Music Director, Jeet Gannguli, Singer, Iman Chakraborty and Director, Annapurna Basu were present today when the songs of the movie were launched.

Certainly, Sharthopor explores in depth the issue of equality between the sexes, justice and emotional intricacies of kinship ties on the basis of a touching story of the struggle of one woman to find her rightful place in her parental home.

Sharhopor is not a tale of property, or of inheritance, but of emotional inheritance. It is concerning the intangible relationships that make us people and shape us as a family. With this movie, I wanted to depict the collision of love and justice in the same family at times and the burden that women have to bear in ensuring things are okay even when they have wronged them. All the characters in Sharthopor are a reflection of our daily life. It is a book that tells of all households, all sibling relations, all silent endeavors of power, said Ms Annapurna Basu, Directress of Sharthopor.

Sharthopor is a film that can be distinguished as a realistic one that is rich in emotions and excellent acting. Surinder Films has never been doubtful to make any meaningful films which capture the social truths and at the same time entertain the viewers. It is the tale of Aparna, a good housewife, whose world comes to her senses when her beloved brother Saurav tricks her into foregoing her part of the inheritance of their ancestral home. It is a betrayal that develops into a courtroom thriller which challenged old-fashioned gender biases and social norms of being a woman. As brothers confront one another in court, Sharthopor is walking the thin line of love and justice, which is why viewers start to think that perhaps the damaged bonds can never be fixed.

Sarthopor will be released in West Bengal in single screens and multiplexes on 21 st October, 2025.
